koala conservation status in new south wales and queensland

This project involved separate reports for Queensland and New South Wales, funded by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), to quantify the impacts of the 2019/20 bushfire events on koalas in the context of broader population trends across the two states, using international standards. With climate change and high frequency fire only likely to increase, there are significant challenges for longer-term survival of wild koalas, and for many populations the chances of recovery are unlikely.
