Threats analysis is used to understand the drivers of mortality / decline in threatened species and typically involves consideration of vehicle strike, disease, non-native predators and the impacts (positive and negative) of current management protocols. 

We have developed novel techniques for wildlife vehicle-strike blackspot identification that also functions to inform ongoing monitoring needs. Identifying the most important road segments allows targeted management actions to be undertaken that maximise financial and/or ecological return, while providing baseline data enabling the efficacy of mitigation actions to be gauged. Biolink develops tailored vehicle-strike mitigation strategies inclusive of road audits and specific recommendations pertaining to fencing and underpasses, based on current best practices and evidentiary working standards. Vehicle strike is often documented in areas where other dispersal / movement options are limited and it can be helpful to integrate this work with connectivity analyses, which Biolink also performs.

Current management protocols can in themselves become threatening processes if the effectiveness of these approaches is not qualified. Biolink regularly conducts such analyses and, where required, provides alternative solutions to wildlife management conundrums.
