This project represented the third koala population and habitat assessment for Coomera-Pimpama undertaken on behalf of the City of Gold Coast Council. It re-examined the distribution, size, conservation status and viability of the local koala population and recommends actions to safeguard it. Detailed population assessments involved a regularised sampling strategy at 102 field sites to delineate metapopulations boundaries and provide estimates of koala occupancy, activity levels, density and population size. Population Viability Analysis (PVA) took into account the results of a threat assessment and predicted future changes in the amount of available habitat. Coomera-Pimpama remains a priority area for koala conservation.
